About Your Tour of Central California

You have purchased an independent tour which is not escorted, with the exception of our escorted tour: The Majestic Mountain Loop Tour - 3 Parks in 3 Days. Our tours are composed of components that can be added together to provide a truly customized package. You will not necessarily be traveling with the same group of people, throughout your itinerary. On our guided tours our representatives will be distinguished by their Central California Explorations or Majestic Mountain Loop embossed clothing. They are here to assist you along the way. Your touring driver will also serve as your guide, offering information on the sights, history, and culture of our area. Our tours include many highlights in order to provide you with the most complete vacation possible. Due to this schedule, it is necessary to cover quite a bit of ground every day. Expect some early morning departures, busy days, and a few lengthy touring coach or rail trips during your tour. Central California is truly a kaleidoscope of extraordinary scenic nature, history and offers culinary delights. The area you are traveling to offers an opportunity to experience something new and different. We at Central California Explorations & Majestic Mountain Loop Tours will go out of our way to make your experience as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. However, please keep in mind that the beauty and the splendor of our area can also be rugged and remote and nature rules. A flexible spirit and open mind on your part will go a long way in enjoying this spectacular land.

Central California has varied regional temperatures from the snowcapped mountains, the dessert and valleys to the cool coastal breezes. Depending on the season temperatures can be as cool as 35 in the evenings up in the mountains in the winter, to 110 Fahrenheit for valley summers (2 to 43 degrees Celsius). However our May - October temperatures will be sunny and warm and light clothing and lots of sunscreen is highly recommended. The abundance of sunshine and moderate seasons make Central California a year round playground!

Packing Advice

First and foremost, dress for comfort. Because of the variable weather conditions, casual clothes that can be layered easily are highly recommended. An all-weather jacket or windbreaker with layers to wear underneath is ideal. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are a must. Dressy evening wear is not needed for the most part but as we have some fine culinary establishments, a nice outfit for a special evening may be considered. Your luggage may not always be accessible to you during your trip. Always carry your medication, travel documents, money, and jewelry with you in your carry-on. Do not pack these items in your suitcase. Please be sure to bring a sufficient supply of medication and carry it in its original container. Central California Explorations & Majestic Mountain Loop Tours assumes no responsibility for the following items: perishables, medicine, liquor, cash, jewelry, gold, silver or similar valuables, securities, financial instruments or other valuable documents, cameras, film, binoculars, cell phones, video equipment or other personal items. We strongly suggest that these items be carried with your hand luggage at all times.

Touring Coach & Touring Van Travel

During your tour, you will travel in company contracted touring coaches and touring vans which are air conditioned for your comfort. We have arranged for periodic stops along our route for pictures, stretching and restroom breaks. There are no reserved or assigned seats, and seating is rotated regularly on longer tours so everybody has an opportunity to see the scenery from all vantage points. As a courtesy to others, smoking is not permitted on board the motor coaches or train cars. All hotels, restaurant and public buildings are completely nonsmoking in California.

We recommend that you limit your luggage to one piece. Many guests plan on traveling in the area for longer than some of our tours. We realize larger luggage may be needed for this, to accommodate space limitations on our group tours we can hold your larger luggage while you tour with a smaller piece. If you are on one of our guided journeys you will be receiving goods on arrival including a small backpack and journal book so leave room in your suitcase to pack those for your trip home.

Travel Documents

You will be provided with travel documents for your tour via email or fax. The document will be your tour itinerary and will be the only document you receive. Please keep this document with you at all times, not in your luggage. Central California Explorations & Majestic Mountain Loop Tours has gone voucher less, meaning, with the exception of a few services, you will not be issued or need a voucher for tour services. Your itinerary will list your day by day services. You will be listed on a manifest for each service. To receive service, you only need to give your name and in some cases show ID. At destination it may be necessary for us to have goods for you on arrival to your accommodations, if so we will clearly state this on your documents, this may include any required tickets for sightseeing tours in that location that we have included in your itinerary. If you require paper documents to be sent to you by post extra fees may apply.

Meals are not included, unless specifically stated in your itinerary. Special dietary requests will be met to the best of our ability. Due to some of the remote locations and limited menus at some the meal stops, as well as unexpected delays, we recommend guests with special dietary requirements make arrangements to bring along some food to meet their special needs.

Tipping is, of course, a personal decision, however in some instances a service fee may be included in an itinerary and will be outlined if so. Some of our guests choose to reward exceptional service and use the following guidelines:

  • Escorted Tours 15% of cost of tour per passenger
  • Driver/Guide Tour Directors on Full Day Tours: $15.00 – 20.00 + at your discretion per person
  • Baggage handling is included while on tour. Independent travelers may choose to tip the bellman for service at $1 - $2 per bag unless otherwise posted.
